Space Launch Mission Operations Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Provide systems engineering and integration (SE&I) support to a key National Security Space (NSS) client integrating mission payloads and space launch vehicles and support all aspects of the launch process from initial planning to Day–of–Launch (DoL). Integrate spacecraft requirements with launch base support to ensure all requirements are identified and space hardware transportation, processing integration, rehearsal, facility, and range requirements are satisfied. Provide planning, preparation, verification, and execution support for mission milestones. Ensure the readiness of facility and mission hardware for integration processing and DoL operations and support integration, launch readiness, and management meetings. Facilitate communication between satellite program offices (SPO), the launch vehicle team, and the operating locations. Provide scheduling support to the mission team for the preparation of the launch manifest and mission model. Develop mission specific plans for and standardize readiness activities where possible.

Basic Qualifications:

-7+ years of experience with space launch systems

-7+ years of experience with the aerospace hardware or software systems engineering life cycle, including design, development, verification and validation, integration, test, and implementation management

-7+ years of experience with technical project management

-7+ years of experience with engineering processes

-Knowledge of mission assurance processes and procedures of NSS clients

-TS/SCI clearance required

-BA or BS degree required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with briefing and writing authoritative technical documents, including reports and position papers

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

-Knowledge of the NSS client’s organizational structure

-Ability to multi–task and adapt to changing priorities, procedures, and information technology tools

-Ability to interact well with cross–functional teams and working environments

-Ability to interface with internal and external clients

-Ability to perform analysis and assessment

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph preferred

-BA or BS degree in Engineering or a technical, scientific, or related field preferred; MA or MS degree a plus
