Health First Orthopedic RN Program Coordinator - Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida


To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: serving as the day-to-day lead within the Fracture/Joint/Spine Center of superior performance and supervise the development, implementation, and organization of the overall program. The Orthopedic Program Coordinator will coordinate the efforts between surgeons, hospital administration and staff while tracking the outcomes of the program and identifying areas of opportunity within the Fracture/Joint/Spine Center. The Orthopedic Program Coordinator is responsible for program management including: growth, LEAN process improvement, patient satisfaction, facilities review, budget, productivity, education, patient outcomes and administrative activities within the FJS Center.




  • Leads orthopedic committee with administrators, physician champion, Orthopedic Committee physicians, and key staff.

  • Integrate program into Health First System Orthopedic Service Line

  • Manage the build-out and oversee the day-to-day facility operations within the FSJ Center.

  • Develops a community education and seminar program inclusive of schedules, presenters, content and materials.

  • Identify patient amenities and secure necessary resources to administer the services.

    Quality/No Harm:

  • Coordinate care between surgeon's office and facility

  • Exceed expected patient outcomes based on Marshall Steele criteria and benchmarks.

  • Review outcomes and identify process improvement opportunities.

  • Create an ongoing quality improvement plan for FJS Center.

  • Update and distribute Fracture/Joint /Spine Center outcomes

  • Develop standardized care plans with the surgeons including: pre-op, post-op and discharge orders.

  • Monitor measurement systems for tracking outcomes, patient satisfaction and actions for improvement.

  • Develop and oversee the creation of pre and post-op teaching classes including the coordination of teaching materials with the physicians' offices.

  • Oversee the development of unit-specific forms and patient education materials.

  • Assist surgeons in community lectures and presentations.

    Customer Experience:

  • Coordinate outpatient care/rehab plans.

  • Perform patient call back surveys.

  • Coordinate patient reunion luncheons.

  • Assess patient, physician/staff satisfaction with peri-operative experiences

  • Meet customer satisfaction outcomes based on Press Ganey criteria and benchmarks.


  • Utilize LEAN principles to create an efficient, goal oriented, outcome driven program.

  • Work with providers and administration to identify opportunities to increase volume, reimbursement and contribution margins.

  • Decrease total direct cost, readmissions, and length of stay through the development of clinical pathways under the direction of physician champions

  • Assist with tracking /assessment of OR efficiencies and outcomes

  • Target desired market share areas; increase hospital presence

  • Increase PCP awareness of benefits of the FSJ Center

  • Engage in program development activities in an ongoing manner

  • Registered Nurse with current State of Florida RN license required

  • BSN highly preferred

  • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain certification(s) as required by specific unit

  • At least 3 years of orthopedic experience preferred

  • Proven working relationship with surgeons

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills with demonstrated experience in patient and staff education

  • Proven leadership experience, having managed resources either directly or within the implementation of a new initiative

  • Strong detail-orientation and follow-up capacity

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Demonstrated success in relationship building

  • Ability to keep team focused on goals / timelines

  • Customer service focused

  • Strong data analysis skills to interpret clinical results and develop program improvement projects

  • Experience in achieving results and working with process improvement.
