Director of Benefits - Health and Welfare


Wyndham is currently seeking a Director of Benefits - Health and Welfare in Orlando, Florida. This position will ensure Wyndham’s programs meet the needs of our diverse workforce, are competitive, cost effective, and align with company values. This position will manage the design and administration of our health and welfare plans as well as take the lead with wellness programs offered by the Company.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Manage the administration of all basic and voluntary health and welfare programs.

  • Manage the reconciliation of the Company’s health and welfare budget, ensure all vendor payments are timely and accurate, evaluate trends impacting the health and welfare budget and provide financial reporting to be presented to senior management.

  • Provide direction to the Associate Service Center regarding administration, design, and/or compliance updates.

  • Recommend cost effective plan design/administrative changes based on marketplace “best practice” and business needs.

  • Responsible for plan design modeling and providing recommendations for plan design modifications.

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of federal and state statutes and ensure compliance of programs and practices within the US domestic marketplace including but not limited to SOX, HIPPA and ERISA.

  • Manage health and welfare plan audit activity.

  • Oversee all health and welfare vendor relationships, host regular vendor calls, and provide vendor metrics to senior management on a regular basis.

  • Manage the implementation of all new health and welfare vendors.

  • Lead design of health and welfare communication and education materials.

  • Manage staff of benefit professionals. Make recommendations for hiring as well as training and development. Conduct performance appraisal process.


  • Proven working knowledge of Health & Welfare programs, their administration and all applicable state and federal laws

  • Strong working knowledge of market trends and contemporary approaches to health and welfare programs for large employers. Proven track record of managing program cost and value.

  • Min 3 yrs exp in a supervisory role with a staff

  • Min 7 yrs benefits administration including plan audit, regulatory compliance and new plan implementation

Unless there is a legal requirement, experience will be accepted for the education requirement.
