ASRC Federal Data Services is seeking a Graphics Specialist (IATSE) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), FL in support of the KAIC contract.

We need your talent -- let's explore the art of possible...Graphics Specialists use conceptual and creative skills to create visual concepts by hand or using computer software to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate customers. This individual will develop the overall layout and production design for signs, posters, booklets, flyers, logos, maps, figures, charts, graphics, illustrations, drawings, photo composites for reports and presentations and computer generated art.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Examine and interpret work order and if needed meet with customer to determine the scope of a project.

  • Advise customer on various strategies to reach particular viewers.

  • Assist customer in determining the message the design should depict.

  • Create images that identify a product or express a message.

  • Combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of printed pages.

  • Hand draw images and scan image into computer.

  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout.

  • Layout and integrate text, figures, tables, photographs and other document elements for paper and electronic publishing.

  • Collaborate closely with writers who choose the words and decide whether the words should be in paragraphs, lists, or tables.

  • Using images, text, and color, transform statistical data into visual graphics and diagrams making complex ideas more manageable and easier to understand.

  • Use a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects.

  • Select the type, font, size, color, and line length of headings.

  • Perform minor graphics requests such as but not limited to; badges, table tents, labels, information cards, certificates, name plates, bulletin board updates, revision to existing projects and online Farewell Presentations.

  • Design and layout bookmarks, brochures, bulletin boards, cartoons, cover designs, fact sheets, flyers, illustrations, invitations, logos, plaques, posters, PowerPoint presentation templates, mounting, and small publications.

  • Composite design and layout may require specialized finishing for pull-up, pop-up, banner stands, and magnetic wall of displays. Fabricate and/or install foam board, create raster image creation (dot matrix data structure), publications over 20 pages, and framing that requires custom mat cutting and wide format laminating.

  • Provide design proofs and edits to customers and incorporate changes recommended by the customer into final design.

  • Review the design for errors before printing or publishing product.

  • Fabricate, finish and setup exhibits for displaying graphics. May require the assemble of scaffolding or work platforms.

  • Keep up to date with the latest software and computer technologies to remain competitive.

  • Maintain compliance with the Copyright Law of the United States.

  • Provide, update and maintain all required documentation, reports, and logs etc., manually or in electronic databases.

  • Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
