Project Controls Specialist

POWER Engineers, Inc., one of the nation’s strongest energy-related engineering and environmental consultants, is currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist for any one of our offices in these locations: North Attleboro, MA; Freeport, ME; Atlanta, GA; Orlando, FL, Fort Mill, SC.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Controls Specialist works closely with the Project Manager in the overall management of the project. This individual must have an advanced understanding of complex projects and how they work, high levels of scheduling and cost knowledge, and must be able to interact productively with key members of a project team with a variety of backgrounds. This Specialist must also have an understanding of CPM scheduling and Earned Value Management, as well as Power Delivery scheduling experience on engineering and construction projects. Electrical utilities and power distribution experience is desirable. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Identify work scope, technical sequencing and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

  • Communicate with various project teams and internal work groups

  • Develop, maintain and support Power Delivery project schedules

  • Work with engineering managers to assure the schedule represents the execution plan

  • Report project progress to engineering leads and provide visibility to critical deliverables through regular meetings

  • Analyze contractor’s schedule submissions

  • Utilize look-ahead schedules to help manage the work

  • Prepare critical path, earned value and schedule risk analysis

  • Prepare cost performance and cash flow projections utilizing budget and cost loaded schedules

  • Manage changes and keep teams aware of changes to the schedule

  • Update individual tasks and Project Performance Indicators as indicated on progress updates

  • Ideal candidate should be a self-starter and work independently

Required Education/Experience

  • Candidate must have five (5) + years of professional experience in project controls/management

  • Proficient in Primavera P6

Desired Education/Experience

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or Construction Management

  • Certification from AACE or PMI is desirable

  • Oracle and MS Project knowledge is desirable

  • Candidates should have worked on large programs valued in excess of $100,000,000.00
